The Progression Module

The Progression Module helps Year 12 and Level 3 students to make an informed decision about what course or career path to take.

The module develops skills in critical thinking, research, evaluation, interview skills and presentations. The Progression Module is currently studied in over 25 schools and colleges making it one of the largest schemes of its kind.

Suitable for students taking BTEC and BTEC combination with an A Level subject. This qualification provides 12 UCAS points for the following local universities: University of Huddersfield, Leeds Beckett University and Leeds Trinity University. It is also suitable for students who wish to attend HE, apprenticeships and employment

The key aims and objectives of the progression module are:

  • To raise aspirations, awareness and self-confidence for post–16 study
  • To coach students in the HE application process
  • To provide a structured programme of study that will give students the opportunity to research available progression routes into HE and apprenticeships
  • To promote skills that will ease transition and improve retention in HE
  • To advance the Continued Professional Development of teaching staff involved in promoting and facilitating progression into HE
