Maths and English GCSE Resit
Any student who attends Immanuel College who has not achieved a grade 4 in their GCSE English Language and/or GCSE Maths by the end of Year 11 will have to attend compulsory GCSE resit English Language and Maths lessons, with a view to resitting the exams at the earliest opportunity.
This condition to resit GCSE English and Maths, if they have not been achieved by the end of Year 11, applies to all schools nationally and is not a condition specific to Immanuel College.

Why choose this subject?
Continuing to work towards a grade 4 or above in maths will enable you to build confidence in the following:
- Develop fluent knowledge, skills and understanding of mathematical methods and concepts.
- Acquire, select and apply mathematical techniques to solve problems.
- Reason mathematically, make deductions and inferences, and draw conclusions.
- Comprehend, interpret and communicate mathematical information in a variety of forms appropriate to the information and context.

The assessments will cover the following content headings:
- Number
- Algebra
- Ratio, proportion and rates of change
- Geometry and measures
- Probability
- Statistics
How is this course assesed?
Assessment for this course takes places through three equally weighted written examinations; one non calculator and two calculator papers. Students will have two opportunities to resit within the academic year, one in November and one in May/June.
English Language resit
What will you study?
Students will explore a range of fiction and non-fiction extracts and practise applying different reading skills such as inference and evaluation. They will also plan and write a range of texts for different audiences, such as narrative writing, letter writing and reviews.
How is this assesed?
Students will sit two external exams in November.
