Our Houses

Our students all join one of four houses when they start at Immanuel College, each of the houses is named after a historical figure who has not only helped shape our society but also embodies our Christian values of perseverance, character and hope.

McMillan

Named after Margaret McMillan (1860-1931) who was a nursery school pioneer and lobbied for the Provision of School Meals Act of 1906.

Bonhoeffer

Named after Dietrich Bonhoeffer (1906-1945), a German Lutheran pastor, theologian and anti-Nazi dissident whose writings on Christianity’s role in the secular world became widely influential.

Nightingale

Named after Florence Nightingale (1820-1910), an English social reformer statistician and the founder of modern Nursing.

Wilberforce

Named after William Wilberforce (1759-1833), a British politician, philanthropist and a leader of the movement to abolish the slave trade.

Head of House: Mr M Grieve

Throughout the year our houses take part in competitions that promote our Christian values and teach valuable skills like team-working, solving problems and softer skills that are important when applying for further education, universities and employment.
