Introduction from the Chair

On behalf of the Governing Body it is with pleasure that I welcome you to the Governors section of the Immanuel College website.

In February 2016 Immanuel converted to academy status and joined the family of schools within the Bradford Diocesan Academies Trust. Shortly after becoming an academy, we had a Statutory Inspection of Anglican & Methodist Schools (SIAMS) at which Immanuel was rated an Outstanding School.

We are a committed and active governing body that works with the head teacher and senior leadership team to oversee the strategic direction of the college. We act as a critical friend, providing support and encouragement while holding our professional colleagues to account for all aspects of school performance, to ensure the highest standards are met and the school improvement plan is delivered.

We take seriously our collective accountability to our students, the parents and the wider community to make sure that the educational experience at Immanuel meets the needs of all our learners.

In order to fulfil our role, we work to gain as full an understanding as possible of the varied aspects of college life. We discover how it functions and operates by our attendance at governor meetings, interaction with staff, students, parents and involvement in college events.

We are hugely fortunate that this provides governors the opportunity to witness at first-hand and celebrate the remarkable achievements of our fantastic pupils and dedicated teaching staff.

All that we do at Immanuel is underpinned by the belief that we are all God’s children and we pride ourselves that the Immanuel family is built on Christian values and principles such as consideration for others, respect and forgiveness.

Immanuel College is thriving. The governors are delighted by the continued improvement in college standards and attainments over the past few years and we seek to lead, support and encourage the college in its journey to receive an Outstanding Ofsted rating.
