About Immanuel

Holy Trinity, Idle

Holy-Trinity-Header3 (1)

Holy Trinity is a big, warm and welcoming community, with people of all ages and from lots of different backgrounds. They do, however, carve out a special place here for teenagers, young adults and families. Quite simply, they love our faithful God! They love to worship Him, to share the Good News of Jesus Christ and to live in the freedom and the power of the Spirit. We’ve lots of faults and failings, and there are little cracks everywhere, but we’re trying hard to get it right. They read the Bible, say prayers and are desperately committed to having a huge “Jesus impact” in our world.

Here are a few words from The Reverend, Leah Thompson, Assistant Curate and Bethany Clifford, Youth Worker:

Immanuel College has strong links with Holy Trinity Idle. As the curate at Holy Trinity, I also am a governor at the school and sit on the SIAMs working group too. We regularly host the school for their various prize giving celebrations and Christmas and Easter assemblies. We also have strong links with Idle Primary which is a feeder school to Immanuel, so by the time many are in secondary school, they will feel very familiar with Holy Trinity! Our Youth Worker Bethany Clifford, a former Immanuel pupil, also spends two days a week at Immanuel. Here are some of her reflections:

"As the youth worker at Holy Trinity it is my absolute pleasure to be so well connected to the young people in Immanuel. I come into school twice a week and help to support lunch groups with the chaplaincy team as well as offering one-to-one pastoral support for young people through mentoring sessions.

It’s a joy to be able to increase the Christian presence in the school and to come alongside young people, in their own environments, to be an example of Jesus and the good news of the Gospel. We find that through this young people feel connected to their local church and this often leads to young people choosing to attend our sessions and even our Sunday morning services - we’ve even seen some commit to following Jesus and we are committed to help them to continue to exploring their faith and spirituality."

We look forward to seeing the relationship between Immanuel and Holy Trinity continue to go from strength to strength.
