16-year-old Mia Enderby, a Post 16 student at Immanuel College studying Sports and Public Services, is preparing to travel to Poland to play in the UEFA European Championship after being selected for the Women’s Under-17 team in August.
Mia started training with Eccleshill United FC and was signed to Sheffield United Women in July of this year before being called for a successful five-day training camp with England Under-17s in August.
Mia, who also previously played for Leeds United RTC, commented: “My Mum has always said that since I was three I’ve had a ball at my feet. When I used to get home from school I would always watch Football. I’ve always enjoyed other sports so it was natural that I would carry on studying it for A Levels. All I’ve ever wanted to do is be a Footballer and play for England Women, I’ve always wanted to do that.”
Now preparing to travel to Poland for her first game for England, Mia will be playing in the qualifying rounds of the UEFA European Women’s Under-17 Championship in October.
Mia continued: “It takes a lot to manage my time between school work and training but the staff at Immanuel have really helped and supported me a lot, it’s really helped with my confidence too.
“It’s like a dream come true really. I’ve always wanted to play for a first team for England and now it’s happened everything is just amazing!”
Mr S. Pickles, Headteacher of Immanuel College, added: “Mia is an incredibly positive example to all of our students. The dedication Mia has shown to Football, and the successes that has brought her already, demonstrate the things that can be achieved when you persevere and work hard to achieve your goals. Everyone at Immanuel is very proud of Mia and we can’t wait to see her playing her first matches for England!”
