Accessibility Statement

Immanuel College is passionately committed to providing an accessible web experience where possible. Read our full Accessibility Statement here .

We are currently holders of a Diversity Mark Bronze Award that demonstrates our commitment to promoting an inclusive environment for all of our students and staff.

Introduction

This website is published by Immanuel College, Bradford. We want as many people as possible to be able to access and use our website along with the information contained within it.

Disability should not be barrier to education and at Immanuel College we are 100% committed to make sure that our users get the very best web experience. To ensure this happens, we have added an “Accessibility Toggle” which will allow users to alter the look and feel of the website, and provides the opportunity for them to tailor our website to their needs.

Our website endeavours to meet the criteria set out in the Accessibility Regulations 2018 and Directive (EU) 2016/2102 wherever possible.

We believe that inclusion and accessibility is embodied by our school motto ‘All God’s Children’; all are welcome at our school and are treated with dignity and respect, irrespective of their background. The team at Immanuel College also believe that our website should operate in a way that encompasses the spirit of our motto.

Scope

This Accessibility Statement applies to the website immanuelcollege.net  It does not necessarily apply to other linked sub-domains or partner sites. Please see the respective statements for such sites.

Objectives

In developing our website, we aim to use modern web technologies and practices to ensure that our site is perceivable, operable, understandable and robust.

We are working to achieve the accessibility standard WCAG 2.1 AA (as at April 2022).

Making Our Website Accessible

When building our website we have tried to encompass the needs of different web users. Because of this we have chosen a modern CMS, with easily visible contrasting text and an accessible font that has been designed for easy reading on the web.

Our website is fully responsive allowing it to be rendered on a number of device types. This has been done to account for the rise in mobile screen readers and technologies.

Immanuel College have aimed to create a clear and logical navigation menu and site structure to allow for easy browsing.

We do recognise that multimedia content can be inaccessible for some web users and aim to provide suitable alternative text, captions or transcripts where possible. We have also endeavoured to use the word “decorative” within the alt text of any image that has been added purely for design and aesthetic reasons.

Lastly, Immanuel College have implemented a simple floating accessibility button “Accessibility Icon “.  By clicking this menu our users can adjust the following features:

  • Increase text size
  • Decrease text size
  • Switch site to grayscale
  • Switch to high contrast mode
  • Switch to negative contrast mode
  • Toggle between light and dark background colours
  • Underline links
  • Switch to a more readable font if needed
  • Quickly disable all accessibility options

Legacy Content

Unfortunately, a number of the documents that have been migrated from our original website in PDF format do not meet our new accessibility standards.

We understand that this can be frustrating, however if you do require any of our legacy materials in a more accessible format please call or email our team using the details below and we will endeavour to recreate the documents in such a way that will meet your needs.
